About Me

Let's get this out of the way, shall we? LOTS of different people live in manufactured housing. If you have anything negative to say, take it somewhere else.

Now that we've settled that, let's get on to the fun bits. I've lived in a double wide for the past thirteen years. My goal was to transform it into the cottage of my dreams, but time, financial, and space constraints have really put a damper on my plans. When my father in law passed in October of 2018 and left his property to my husband, we decided to move into the house...which is also a double wide, though significantly more roomy than my own house.

It has been a bittersweet enterprise for both of us. It's been difficult for my husband to let go of things, and clean out his parents' house full of memories, and hard for me to give up the house and gardens I've poured so much time and love into. It's also a chance for both of us to spread out a bit and my college-aged daughter to have her own place for a while until she flies the coop someday (we've offered to let her stay permanently and take over the payments at some point). It's a chance to make the house our own and really turn it into the "cottage" of my dreams. He doesn't really care what I do, within reason - or so he tells me. :-)

The best part is it's right on Sardis Lake where we spend a large portion of our summers boating and fishing, and the yard is nearly a blank slate. I get to start over again with a new landscaping plan and I will be able to transplant or root quite a few of the plant material in my current yard in addition to making the house our own. I hope my middle-aged body can keep up with the work.
